Ok everyone... I took these rules from the SDS forum ;D but of course I just changed a few things... This rules will now apply.
THE OFFICIAL TARA FOR NOW AND FOREVER FORUMS RULES
(Mandatory reading for new members!)
I. A NOTE TO MEMBERS.
If you read a post that violates one of these rules, you can report it to the moderators through PM and we will sort it out as soon as possible (I only wish there was a report button on here somewhere).
II. THE WARNING SYSTEM.
(Strikes kept track of in the non-viewable Admin's section.)
First strike - the poster of a violating message is PM'd with a warning.
Second strike - temporarily banned or put under moderation - severity depending on the rules broken.
Third strike (strike after temporary ban or moderation) - permanent ban.
If you are permanently banned, please do not sign up under another username just to avoid our judgement. If you do this and are discovered, we will instantly ban you again, with no warning.
III. POSTING.
A. General Posting Rules
1. Do not double-post. Self-explanatory, really. There's a modify button, you know, and you can use it anytime you want.
2. Use proper grammar. I can't stress this enough. We are not four year olds, we are not from myspace and I know we've all taken at least 6th grade English. We want to look as professional as possible (for what reason, I'm not too sure. But to the outside world, it seems better), so any member whose post has more than four deliberate mistakes will receive a warning. (Only the moderators have power to decide whether a mistake is delibrate or not. Please not PM or anything like that a moderator with such a complaint, unless it is a regural accorance)
3. Do not spam! This means, basically, "Short Pointless Annoying Messages". While we trust most to use good judgement, some cannot, so we'll make it simple - don't just say "I agree" and nothing more. Contribute to the discussion. Say why you agree so people can perhaps agree further or disagree. A thread is born this way.
4. Stay on topic. If the topic is cats, do not randomly post about dogs. The threads can slowly stray off topic from cats to dogs, but don't expect it to stay that way for long.
5. Text size/color formatting. Some people have trouble reading small text. Please don't use tiny text when posting. Also, keep in mind that some colors merge together on screen. Try to avoid using similar colors together. For example, the forum background is purple. Mid-range or dark purple should be avoided in posting.
B. OBSCENITY
1. Please keep things PG level or so. No in-depth discussions (and pictures, really) of sexual orientation or anything else that you wouldn't find on the Disney Channel. For example, any fanart should not dress the characters in outfits more revealing then this:
2. This also means no cursing or use of swear words. If you're creative, you can emphasize something without resorting to crude language. Like bull shark instead of bull<expletive>. Or you could just use <expletive> or *Censored* to suggest you said something bad. Using remarks considered racist or intolerant is also considered inappropriate. The administrators trust members to use good judgement when posting.
Any member found breaking one of these rules of OBSCENITY will be instantly ban without warning
C. FLAMING
1. First and foremost, at Tara For Now And Forever flaming is defined as a groundless insult with nothing positive to it. Two or so insults that are between friends and are generally joking don't count. And while heated debates can get semi-flamelike, no warnings will be handed out unless it turns into a straight out "you're stupid" "well, you have a lousy avatar!" fest.
This does by no circumstances mean that it will be accepted![/color]
2. Flame-baiting and mod-baiting is strictly not allowed and will not be tolrated! Flame-baiting is purposely posting a comment in order to receive negative attention from members, and mod-baiting is relatively the same, except breaking rules to annoy the mods and admins.
IV. Administration and Moderation
Do not mouth off to said admins and mods - they have the power to take care of you, after all, and they're your authority. Therefore, please respect them. We do have the power to *bend* the rules a little, but we will not break them completely. Any serious mis-conduct through a moderator will be dealt with by me (Newt - Admin)
